Description
The Hailand Preserve includes over 1/4 mile on both sides of W. Conway Road. The habitat is a mix of open meadow, forested uplands, tag alder wetlands, and beaver ponds which dam a small tributary to Crooked Lake. The Helstrom Preserve includes wetlands and a shrub/grass complex on wetlands with some uplands. The numerous springs found within the pond keep the water open much of the year, making it ideal waterfowl habitat especially during migration seasons. There is a small man-made pond located in the middle of the property. Historically the land was used for pasturing livestock. It is adjacent to the Hailand Preserve to the South and in close proximity to other protected lands. It has more than 1/4 mile of frontage on Conway Road.
