Description
A broad diversity of habitats lie along this stretch of the Jordan River ranging from mixed hardwood/conifer swamp to upland savannahs. From these preserves, the river empties into the Jordan River spreads on the outskirts of the city of East Jordan. This preserve offers 1.5 miles of trail over 201 acres with long-distance visibility making it easy to spot birds. Raptors soaring in the distance are a common sight along with Eastern Kingbirds in the fields. Birders can expect to find many warblers, vireos, flycatchers, orioles, and ducks. Just up the road from the parking area is a public access canoe launch, making it possible to paddle through the preserve, ending up in Lake Charlevoix in the town of East Jordan.
